Editorial Emo Girls Get No Love
Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 09:27PM I was perusing through random profiles on myspace.com recently and I came to a shocking realization...
the amount of love and attention emo-girls get is only a fraction of that which is showered upon emo-boys!
Why is this? What exactly can this lack of interest be attributed to? Could it perhaps be because emo-girls shower all of their affection and attention on emo boys, and yet the boys are too interested in other emo-boys to pay any attention to these already fragile female beings? Who loves the emo-girls?
It is no wonder emo-girls are so depressed all the time. One can easily get caught up in the feeling of being unloved or unwanted, especially when neglected not only by the general public, but by one’s own kind as well. Perhaps the world really doesn’t understand these few, underappreciated women. It has become clear to me now why emo-girls are so sad. I’d almost stretch so far as to say their depression and self-loathing are fairly justified.
Alright, now hear me out before immediately passing judgement and discounting my theory completely.
Let’s be honest with ourselves, most of us can relate to this feeling of being unloved at some point or another, granted some of us much more often than others. Everybody wants to be recognized as an individual; to feel special. It is basic human nature to want to feel accepted and loved by others; to be told your opinion matters. Thus, the feeling of being denied such acknowledgement can be truly traumatizing to a person.
Now, imagine this effect multiplied by the number of female emos out there. This puts into perspective just how great the feeling of rejection must be, to know you’re whole life is expendable. But then again, I guess those of us that don’t fit into this category will never quite comprehend the exquisite torture this subculture must live through every day. To every day be misunderstood and underappreciated…
What exactly can be done to remedy this problem?
Should we all learn to become less fixated on the male population of this stereotype? Is this even possible?
I feel, and I’m sure you other non-emos can agree, that these males are like a fascinating new species of creature which must be studied and evaluated carefully under a microscope.
In an ideal world, we would gather them all up and place them in an oversized quarantine unit, purely for purposes of scientific study of course. I think that it is fairly safe to say that to try to ignore them would be a nearly impossible feat which few have ever been able to accomplish. Seeing an emo-boy is comparable to witnessing a bad car accident, the more grotesque the sight, the greater the fixation and inability to look away. Whether you love or loathe them, they simply cannot be disregarded like last night’s condom.
And so, my proposed solution is that we simply develop a greater appreciation for the emo double x-chromosome.
Even if you despise the very idea of an emo-person, the least you can do is treat the two sexes equally as poorly. They deserve the very same attention as the males, whether it be a deep admiration or an unfathomable hatred. This is women’s rights we are talking about here! Shouldn’t every emo be entitled to the same treatment?
So remember, the next time you see an emo-girl passing by you at the Warped Tour show, or sitting next to you at your local Starbucks inhaling her favorite Menthol cigarette, make sure to give her a hug, or at least a shove out of the way an obscene remark, as you see fit.

I agree emo girls don't get enough credit. Poor girls have to compete for the attention of fellow emo girls AND the bi emo guys of their affections...How sad. Perhaps the reason for this is because passive guys are more attractive to other guys who havn't come to terms with their sexual identities than passive females. And since they represent less of a challenge they seem like a convenient, low risk outlet to test out your sexual preferences.
Or maybe I'm way off base and just want all emo guys to be gay. In any case, super article.

p.s. KEEP ROCKIN!!! And EMOS rule..
well you just have to be a hugy person i guess guys and girls hug me all the time when im happy ot going to slit the shit out of me or someone else i get hugs...and im not that emo(it just might be becaus of the hugs they help a lot) i hug too so if you emo girls out there want hugs then you have to ask thas what i do ill go up to some random effin sexy guy and ask them for hugs(im weird like that) and i usualy always get them so hug and let hug...thats all i have to say

"o my god emo boy! im an emo arent i? yer i must be! so lets go whore myself over him!" but to be honest even emo guys would go for different girls...its even easier for guys to look emo cos of the whole fringe factor over the face leaving one eye visible lol (which would be fine for me cos i have a lazy left eye neway so my visions the same as always lol)
the point is!!! stop dressing like emo boys!!! they have cocks and u dont! u end up lookin like a very bad female transvestite (which sum people think is the point of emo neway) so just be urself n if u see an emo boy just not give a shit n make him be the whore (not sayin all emo galz r whores that is ;) )
For people who generally enjoy emo, then good for you. I personaly dont give a damn what anyone listens to, but the myspace thing, is incredibly irritating no matter how you try to ignore it. Especailly when a group of these melodramatic LOSERS bump past you on the street with their pretencious scarfs and bisexual-manners. Just makes you want to take their 'death cab for a cutie' album and smash it on the floor.
Emo girls, from what I know, are (generally) a large group of whingy, emotionally challanged *or so they think* ...sluts, for the most part.If you are being steryotypical, your average myspace emo girl, is 18, comes from some unknown town in middle america, and cries herself to sleep every night over some homoerotic ex-boyfriend who is now dateing a male friend. She has the typical black fringe hair, a little chubby on the belly, and generally a boring '' <3 '' kind of personality.
I dont blame anybody for ignoring emo girls. How could they mope around and be so 'cute' and 'unwanted' if people did take notice of them?! I think they love it.
